We all love walking away with a trophy on our hand for any competition we join. Reckon a sports minus a goal, and a trophy to cap off the accomplishment or culmination of a goal. Doesn’t sound exciting, does it? Trophies are a concrete proof of one person or team’s victory over others in a tough competition. Trophies stand for achievement.
A ceremony every quarter year to give plaques to worthy employees is ideal. The workplace should never be lacking in appreciation and praise. They simply help keep an optimistic attitude and make everyone work lighter and happier, knowing that they are acknowledged and treasured.
Many people would like to work from home. Their reasons for wanting to do so would vary, examples of which are the dislike for commute or not enjoying work in an office environment. Trophy roughly means “to rout.” It was actually taken from the Greek word “tropaion,” which came from the verb “trope.” Trophies were thought as symbols of triumph in war battles back in ancient Greece. People used to make them on the battlegrounds of victorious battles, with the bases inscribed with the details of the fight and a dedication to the god they believed assisted them in winning the battle.

Teamwork begins at the top, most of us will set back and nod our head as people and training organizations tell us that teamwork is important, but we don’t realize that applies to us. We think yeah it would be great if the technology department would be a team or if our Human Resource department would step it up together. We don’t realize though that the team effort of a business starts at the top. It is the executives, managers, supervisors and leaders that set up the environment of team work.

We all know what is like to have a hectic morning where you just don’t seem like you had enough time to get ready or sleep or prepare for work. We rush in through the office door and then sit down and start to work on our list of tasks with the same frantic effort. We rush around over 5 or 6 different tasks starting several but never really knowing what we are accomplishing. We are busy the entire time we are at work but by the end of the day we aren’t any closer to our goal then we were.
